Dear Reader, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh was established in 1975 as a government organization under the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. Since 1975, every year after the beginning of Ramadan, the Islamic Foundation calculates the amount of Sadaqatul Fitr or Fitr and discloses the amount of money to be returned or paid to each person. The continuation of this is announced by the Islamic Foundation in 2023. This year, i.e. in 2023, the minimum fitrah per person should be 115 taka and the maximum 2 thousand 645 taka. It was decided in the meeting that according to Islamic Shariah, Dara Fitra can be paid for any of the products like flour, barley, raisins, dates and cheese. If wheat or flour Dara Fitra is paid, 1 kg 650 grams or its market price should be paid Tk 115. 3 kg 300 grams or its market value of Tk 396 should be paid if Barley Dara is collected. If Raisins Dara is collected 3 kg 300 grams or its market price is Tk 1650 If date Dates are collected 3 kg 300 grams or its Market price 2640 Tk. Conditions for Fitrah to be Wajib

On the day of Idul Fitr, if a free Muslim has the nisab of zakat i.e. 7 Bhari Saran or 52 and a half tolas of rupees or its equivalent in cash, Fitra is wajib for that person. These assets should be in excess of debt and basic needs. However, the difference is that this asset must be owned for one full year for Zakat and it is not a condition to stay for one year for the sake of Fitrah. And it is also forbidden for these people to accept Fitrah. Again, the value of house, house, furniture and property (if not for business) is not included in the Nisaab of Zakat. But in the case of fitrah, additional furniture, houses, houses and fixed assets, rental houses, machinery, agricultural machinery, etc. (even if not for earning) will be included in the calculation of the value of these and fitrah.

When is Fitra Wajib?

Fitra must be performed on all able-bodied believers after Sadiq in the morning of Eid. If someone's child is born just before this time, Fitra must also be performed for that child. When to perform Fitra It is best to perform Fitra before going to prayer. However, there is no prohibition to perform Fitra in advance. And if one cannot perform it before the Eid prayer for any reason, then it can be performed after the Eid prayer. But the beloved Prophet (PBUH) used to perform Fitra before going to the Idgah. Because the poor will celebrate Eid with the rich by shopping with this money.

On whom is fitrah obligatory?

Chadaqbatul Fitr is obligatory for all Muslims, men and women, young and old. There is a hadith to this effect,

Ibn Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) made obligatory on every person of his Ummah, slave and free, male and female, young and old, 16 dates or barley per head as Zakatul Fitr and ordered it to be paid before leaving for the Eidgah." Even if someone dies on the morning of Eid, it is not wajib for him to pay Fitrah. If a child is born on the morning of Eid, it is obligatory to perform Fitrah on his behalf. Chadaqbatul Fitr is the charity of people, not wealth. Therefore, it is wajib to pay charity for the lives of all living Muslims. Fitrah is wajib for a person even if he is not able to fast.

Who can be given Fitra - Rules for giving Fitra

Those who have the right to receive Zakat are entitled to Fitr in charity. Those who are not entitled to Zakat cannot be given Fitr. This matter is settled in the 60 verses of Surah Tawbah in the Quran. Allah Ta'ala says that Zakat is only the right of the fakir, the poor, the poor, the zakat collector and those who need encouragement, and it is the decree of Allah for the debtors, for those who strive in the way of Allah, and for the travelers, for the liberation of slaves.

Allah Ta'ala has described the eight categories of Zakat in this verse.

1. Destitute Fakir: Fakir is said to be one who has no wealth and his useful halal earnings which can be earned by him. Who has no place to eat and wear. No other essentials. Others say Fakir is one who has little wealth but depends on others for sustenance.

2. Destitute Poor: The poor are those whose wealth is not sufficient to meet the needs of the dependents.

3. Persons engaged in the work of collecting Zakat: Those who collect Zakat, keepers, scribes, accountants, and distributers of Zakat must be paid from the Zakat Fund.

1. He must be a Muslim.

2. Must be an adult of sound conscience.

3. Must have knowledge about the provisions of Zakat

4. Those who can be attracted: To those who need to be attracted to Islam or to keep them firmly established on Islam, giving people from the Zakat sector.

5. For the release of slaves: In exchange for payment of money to the owners, the contract has been made for the release of the slave.

6. Debt-burdened person: Helping a person burdened with debt and unable to repay it from the fund of Zakat.

7. Spending in the way of Allah: The way of Allah is the path that leads to the satisfaction of Allah through belief and deeds.

8. For travelers: To help a person who has wealth in his home and is in danger and destitute while traveling from the fund of Zakat.

When should Fitra be paid?

Some information from  Hadith BD about when Fitra should be given .

There are two times to pay the Fitrah; If you pay it at one of them, you will get merit and if you donate at another time, it will be enough. The first time is to be paid and the second time is to be paid. Giving in the first time is obligatory and giving in the second time is permissible.

The best time to pay this zakat is on the morning of Eid before the prayer. Abu Saeed Khudri (RA) said, 'We used to donate one sa' of food on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him).'[1]

Ibn Umar (ra) said, 'The Prophet (peace be upon him) ordered people to pay Zakat al-Fitr before going out for the Eid prayer.'[2]

Ibn Uwaynah narrated in his Tafseer on the authority of Amr bin Dina, Ikramah said, 'People will offer their Zakat of Fitr (to the poor) before the Eid prayer. Since Allah Almighty says,

(قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّى وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى)

That is, he will prosper, who becomes pure (by giving Zakat) and prays, remembering the name of his Lord. (Qur'anul Kareem 87/14-15)

This is why it is better to pray Eid-ul-Fitr late. So that the time for paying Fitrah is not short.

The valid time to pay this zakat is one or two days before Eid. Nafe' said, 'Ibn Umar (RA) used to give Fitrah on behalf of all, young and old; He used to extort fitra even from my sons. And he used to donate to those who accepted it. They were given a day or two before Eid.'[3]

It is not permissible to delay paying this zakat until after the Eid prayer. So a person who offers it after the Eid prayer, his Zakat is not accepted. Because his work is against the instructions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Narrated in the hadith of Ibn Abbas, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever pays it before prayer, his zakat is accepted." And whoever pays it after the prayer, his zakat is considered a general charity.''[4]

Of course, if he gives it after the prayer due to some difficulty, his zakat will be accepted. For example, if one is in a place on the morning of Eid, where there are no people to take Zakat, or if the news of Eid comes suddenly in the morning and one does not have the opportunity to pay Fitr, or
